Bus Driver Opening

The Children’s Learning Center in Madras, Oregon is looking for a dynamic, energetic, patient, fun and organized individual to work with children and staff in our Oregon Prekindergarten program.  The person will be responsible for transporting children 3 times a day to and from the center.  There may be times when transportation for field trips is also required. Physical and mental requirements may include sitting in child size chairs, kneeling, and bending to child’s level.  Staff member may also lift or move heavy and/or bulky objects or children weighing up to 50 pounds.  Staff member may have to respond to emergency scenarios and use their senses to maintain safety of the environment and children. The position is a 9-month position approximately 23 hours a week.  (May change based on position need)  Some benefits are available which include sick and vacation time. The position requires a valid CDL and driving record free of violations within the last three years.  Must also have the school bus driver endorsement and pass requirements required for continuous licensing.  Preferred credentials at hiring but willing to help train the right person.  Enrollment in the Criminal Background Registry required prior to employment.  Pay is determined by experience.

Education Manager Opening

The Children’s Learning Center in Madras, Oregon is looking for a dynamic, energetic, patient, and organized individual to work with children and staff in their Early Childhood program.  The program serves approximately 150 children and 30 staff.  Qualified individuals must be familiar with child development and developmentally appropriate practices for children ages 6 weeks through 5 years. This person will coordinate all the educational duties which includes observations, implementation of Creative Curriculum and utilization of Teaching Strategies Gold.  Staff member will mentor/coach individuals and help facilitate professional development plans while providing ongoing training as needed for each individual.  Staff member will monitor completion of observations, home visits, conferences and various other data points as determined by Early Learning Division and program.  Manager will interpret, follow, and implement the Head Start Performance Standards and Office of Child Care regulatory rules. As a member of the leadership team, the member will work with other component managers and the Board of Directors to evaluate services, develop a strategic plan, and gather and analyze data to meet program goals.  Evening meetings and travel may be required. Physical and mental requirements may include sitting in child size chairs, kneeling, and bending to child’s level.  Staff member may also lift or move heavy and/or bulky objects or children weighing up to 50 pounds.  Staff member may have to respond to emergency scenarios and use their senses to maintain safety of the environment and children.  Coverage within the classroom may be required for absences and will include modeling expectations for staff members. This position is an exempt 40 hour a week position.  The position offers benefits including individual health insurance, vacation, sick leave, and retirement benefits. The position requires a minimum of a BA in Early Childhood or equivalent.  Enrollment in the Central Background Registry required prior to employment.  Pay is determined by experience and degree.

Early Head Start Teacher Opening

The Children’s Learning Center is looking for a dynamic, energetic, patient, fun and organized individual to work with children in our Early Head Start program, which serves ages 6 weeks to 3 years. The position is a teacher who is responsible for lesson plans, observations, setting individual goals for students, and working with other team members to provide a safe, educational, and fun learning environment. The position is full-time at 40 hours a week position running approximately 50 weeks a year.  The position offers benefits that include health insurance for individual, vacation and sick leave, and retirement benefits after successful completion of probationary period. Educational requirements require a CDA in Infant/Toddler or Associate in Early Childhood.  Enrollment in Central Background Registry required prior to enrollment.  First Aid, CPR, and Food Handlers must be obtained within 90 days of employment.  Pay is determined by experience and degree.

Cook Assistant Job Opening

The Children’s Learning Center is looking for a motivated, energetic, team player to help prepare USDA approved meals while keeping the kitchen areas clean and sanitary according to the Health Department ordinances.  The person will assist the cook in ensuring that all components of nutrition are met based on USDA and Head Start Performance Standards.  Supports the cook and kitchen in the areas of dishwashing, clean up, kitchen sanitation and assistance with food preparation. Physical and mental requirements may include continuous use of hands, standing and walking in kitchen area for most of the kitchen shift. Daily kneeling, stooping, and bending, lifting and moving heavy and/or bulky objects or children weighing up to 50lbs. High level of accuracy and attention to details and ability to work independently. Responsible for keeping and maintaining accurate CACFP records, and ability to keep organized filing for CACFP reviews. The position is a non-exempt 9-month position with 40 hours a week. The position offers benefits that include health insurance for individual, vacation, sick leave, and retirement benefits after successful completion of their probationary period. Previous experience required. Must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking in English.  Enrollment in the Criminal Background Registry required prior to employment.  First Aid, CPR, and Food Handlers must be obtained within 60 days of employment.  Pay is determined by experience and degree.
